Common Questions

What will I learn in the Bootcamp? What subjects are covered?2021-04-19T19:55:31+00:00

In short, we will be teaching you full-stack Java web application development with a focus on Spring and Hibernate technologies (as they are the most popular in the real-world).  You can view our full syllabus here.

I am a complete beginner. I have never coded before. Is this bootcamp for me?2021-04-19T19:55:38+00:00

Yes, you can start the Bootcamp as a complete beginner.

The Full Stack Java Bootcamp is designed to teach you everything you need to know to get a job as a full-stack Java programmer, even if you know nothing. We've built our educational approach on helping people with zero experience to learn how to code. So you can start as a pure beginner with no prior knowledge.

We have found that students do find it helpful to have a basic level of understanding of how programming works. For instance, knowing general concepts about variables, IF statements, loops, and perhaps data structure is very helpful. However, we will be covering all of these topics in the first couple of weeks of the Bootcamp.

How much time is required to complete the Bootcamp?2021-04-19T19:55:43+00:00

We have recorded all of our bootcamp material into bite-sized chunks to make it more easily digestible.  The lessons can be viewed at one's leisure and will only depend on your available time to learn.

Typically our students require an average of 20 hours per week to view the weekly lessons and to complete the required weekly assignment.

Ultimately, the goal is for you to be accountable to put in the time each week so you can graduate from the Bootcamp in the 6 month time period. It's a fantastic opportunity to invest in yourself and to grow your marketable skills.

How can you guarantee a job offer to Bootcamp grads?2021-04-19T19:55:49+00:00

Over the last 15 years we have been building a large network of contacts. This large network is made up of businesses that are in need of good programmers. In their minds, a “good programmer” is one that understands how to use the right technologies.  So, when you graduate from this Bootcamp, we are extremely confident that you'll be equipped with exactly what today's employers actually want.

We haven't failed to find a graduate a job yet.

What if I already have a job, or I am a full-time student. Will I be able to do this?2021-04-19T19:55:54+00:00

The Bootcamp is a part-time commitment. We expect that you can put in an average of about 20 hours per week. If you have a full-time job or are a full-time student, the time commitment can be achieved through a couple of weeknights and some afternoons on the weekend.

What happens if I'm not available for a specific week during the Bootcamp, like if I go on vacation?2021-04-19T19:55:58+00:00

Students often have a vacation planned sometime during the 6 months that we work together; it's normal. The video lessons and office hour calls are all recorded. You can catch up in the following week(s) based on your own available time.

What if I join, do all the work, and don't get a job?2021-04-19T19:55:24+00:00

This is the reason why we have a job guarantee offer.

If you graduate from the bootcamp and don't have a job offer (or a freelancing client offer, if that's what you prefer) within six months, we will continue to work with you until you do, at no extra cost.

In order for the guarantee to apply, you need to have actually graduated from the Bootcamp, which means you will need to have “done the work”.  If you're curious you can check out the specific details about the terms and conditions here.

We have a very good understanding of what companies want from their potential employees. All you need is the desire to learn and we can get you where you want to go.

How will you prepare me to pass technical interviews after completing the bootcamp?2021-04-19T19:55:08+00:00

We provide a Java Career Bundle plus a Java Interview Preparation course complete with tips and tricks on how to deal with those tough interview questions

How do I know if this bootcamp is right for me?2021-04-19T19:55:03+00:00

Do you want to secure a highly rewarding career as a coder? Then if you're willing to put in the work and take the time to learn then this Bootcamp will help you to move forward in your quest for a dream job or freelancing opportunity.
